Well Being at Google NYC

Google NYC-one word, amazing, especially when I think of the well being that emanates from the work and play environment there. 

Last week, Denis de Bernardy, developer of Semiologic, a word press program, and I were invited to lunch at Google in NYC.  OK, everyone on the internet knows google.com when they want to search for something on the internet but this visit made Google real.

A few days earlier, I had been looking at Semiologic templates or skins and came across two attractive skins designed by Antonella Fabrese who by chance is a Google employee.  The next thing I know Denis and I are signing in at 111 8th Avenue, the old Port Authority building, to visit Antonella who by the way is as impressive as the semiologic skins that attracted me to her.  I’m not the only one(Antonella gets blogged tipped in eMoms at Home).

As I walked the halls at the Google offices in NYC I noticed the interesting walls, fun rooms, warm people, game rooms, all part of the Google business scene here in NYC.  We walked into the cafeteria and I was amazed.  The abundance of it all.  And it’s free to google employees and their invited guests.  Denis said, "look Myrna, it says organic raspberries, strawberries, blueberries".  Denis knows I am an organic foods fan.

After our trays were filled with everything from steamed asparagus, poached salmon, grilled chicken, tofu,  heafty healthy salad to the organic fruit, we walked out onto the outdoor terrace overlooking the city.  It was a beautfiul sunny day and you know ‘on a clear day you can see forever’.

Lunch conversation with Antonella and Denis was interesting and fun.  The whole experience at Google was memorable.  I’m still thinking about it 2 weeks later.
