Life Beyond Belief, Everyday Living as Spiritual Practice
Eckhart Tolle was on my mind because of his upcoming live web event with Oprah that starts on March 3rd and another live internet event Discover & Living Your True Purpose, taking place on March 7th-8th(in your home right on your computer). So I wanted to remind you.
As I googled Eckhart Tolle, I came across a wise woman who was deeply affected by Tolle's book, "The Power of Now" and then by a retreat with Tolle at Omega Institute.
So now I want to talk about this spiritually evolved grand lady, Alice Gardner who herself authored a new book, "Life Beyond Belief, Everyday Living as Spiritual Practice". She wrote the book after her experience with Eckhart Tolle.
About her experience before and after meeting Eckhart Tolle, Alice writes
I somehow figured out in the year 2001 that I was always in either the past or the future, and wasn't really very much in the present at all. Because that didn't seem like a good thing, I searched "living in the present" at amazon.com. Up came "The Power of Now"
About Tolle's book, "The Power of Now", Alice writes:
"The Power of Now" seemed so clearly to be coming from the same source that I was experiencing as the source of my personal guidance, which I understood intellectually to be my own Self, but which I was yet unable to experience as such. To have a book so clearly coming from that source was absolutely riveting.
Her words after the Omega retreat:
Somehow between the beginning and the end of that retreat, something irrevocably changed for me. I was immersed in bliss, and knew that everything that I had ever wanted as a spiritual seeker had now arrived, and there was nowhere else to go. Somehow it seemed that Eckhart Tolle had handed it all to me on a silver platter. My old life ceased operating the way it had before, and there was a long way to go to learn how to live from this new place, but that was it. All sense of need or lack was gone and everything not only appeared to be perfect as it was, radiating with love and life, but that also pervaded me and made it so that any personal problems appeared to have vanished.
And about Alice Gardner's book, "Life Beyond Belief, Everyday Living as Spiritual Practice", Amazon reviewer, Carol Heart writes:
From this detailed account of one life, I can see how living a "Life Beyond Belief" is possible.,
Amazing book! In this deeply personal account, Alice Gardner invites us to join her as she shares her own human story, her journey to spiritual awakening. Now like never before, I see the value of my own ordinary, everyday life. Truly it has opened up for me a "Life Beyond Belief", where compassion for my own conditioned patterns and beliefs is replacing my struggle with confusion and self-doubt. I go back to the book over and over. Each time I see a little clearer that my everyday life experiences are in the service of waking up to realizing the Peace and Freedom available and possible, already! Thank you Alice.

Dearest Myrna might show me how to do a blog!! How wonderful is that? Just another example of life flowing forward in wonderful ways, in spite of our human limitations.
I am so thrilled about Eckhart and Oprah teaming up the way that they are starting in March. I signed up myself. I wanted to see what they are up to! Anyway, thank you Myrna for your words about the book and website and all, although "spiritually evolved grand lady" or whatever that was you wrote seems significantly over the top. Actually the particular usefulness of me is that I am a regular person like anybody else. I don't talk from a mountain-top about spiritual wisdom. I speak from the gutsy work of learning to live it every day in the midst of our often complicated, busy or heart-wrenching modern lives. Living this in the midst of our families, our jobs, our to-do lists and our personal idiosyncrasies is where the rubber really hits the road and where this spiritual stuff really begins to matter.

Alice, this is exactly why I referred to you as a 'spiritually evolved grand lady'!!!
