Conscious Breathing-More Than A Health Benefit
Eckhart Tolle speaks about conscious breathing to help you stay present in your life instead of being in a state where your mind never stops racing.
If I had to limit my advice on healthier living to just one tip, it would be simply to learn how to breathe correctly. From my own experience and from working with patients, I have come to believe that proper breathing is the master key to good health.
- Andrew Weil, M.D., author of Natural Health, Natural Medicine
When you focus on slow conscious breathing, you take in much more oxygen which helps the cells in your body work more efficiently. Most of our breathing is too shallow and we lose the benefits of getting a good dose of oxygen.
Take longer to breathe out and you will take more oxygen in on the next breath.
Here’s how you do it: Sit quietly or lie down and breathe in slowly for a count of seven, hold for a count of seven and then with the tip of your tongue resting on the inside of your top front teeth, breathe out for a much slower count of seven. Do this seven times at least once a day at first. It will take you from your busy thoughts into your body and will bring you peace, balance and harmony.

Thank you Myrna for posting this information. Articles on conscious breathing are great reminders of the importance of breath. Someone once took a catalog of spiritual classes to Eckhart Tolle asking him to recommend one of them. He responded that it is more beneficial to regularly focus upon our breathe than taking all these classes together. The breathe is the great tranquilizer which instantly brings our attention back to the present moment.
