Eckhart Tolle- Breathing Helps You To Be Present
Eckhart Tolle, in "A New Earth", writes that the ego is responsible for negative past or future stories racing around in our heads. When we are anxious or fearful, it is also the ego(thoughts we are thinking).
Tolle suggests that conscious breathing will take us out of our head and into our body. See the Chapter 2 video at Oprah.com where Tolle shows Oprah how to use breathing as one way to feel the inner body.
Tolle writes:
Make it a habit to feel the inner body as often as you can…It is your essence identity. Body awareness not only anchors you in the present moment, it is a doorway out of the prison that is the ego. It also strengthens the immune system and the body's ability to heal itself
If you make the present moment the primary focal point of your life, ego will diminish and you will be open to all kinds of wonderful new experiences; ego cannot survive the present moment.
